GENERAL INFORMATION
- The common garden verbena (Glandularia × hybrida, formerly Verbena hybrida) is a square-stemmed creeping plant that bears flat heads of phloxlike flowers in a range of colors.
- Clump verbena, or rose verbena (Glandularia canadensis, formerly V. canadensis), is also sometimes cultivated for garden flowers.
SOIL REQUIREMENT
- It is not particular about soil, except that it must be well-draining.
- Poor soil is acceptable for verbena growing conditions.
- Perennial varieties of the verbena flower are often lost when planted in soil that becomes soggy following heavy winter snow or spring rain.

FEEDING/FERTILIZER
- Organic matter mixed into the soil is always an excellent choice to feed plants.
- In terms of slow-release fertilizer mixes, you want to use anything that promotes flowers.
- Any variation of 3-1-2 fertilizer mix or a Miracle Grow fertilizer is a good option for Verbena.
LIGHT REQUIREMENT
- Give it at least six hours of sunlight a day.
WATER REQUIREMENT
- Watering once a week is typically enough.
- During a heatwave or drought, the plant may need water twice a week or more.
