GENERAL INFORMATION

• Selaginella is the sole genus of vascular plants in the family Selaginellaceae, the spikemosses or lesser clubmosses.
• This family is distinguished from Lycopodiaceae by having scale leaves bearing a ligule and by having spores of two types.
