GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Astrophytum Asterias is a species of cactus in the genus Astrophytum and is native to small parts of Texas in the United States and Mexico.
  • Common names include sand dollar cactus, sea-urchin cactus, star cactus, and star peyote

SOIL REQUIREMENT

  • It grows well in sandy loam soil with ample organic material and little organic matter, such as peat moss, bark, or leaf mold.

FEEDING/FERTILIZER REQUIREMENT

  • Use a pot with good drainage and potting soil that is very porous.
  • During the summer, apply a heavy potassium fertilizer every four weeks.
