GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Melaleuca is an evergreen shrubs or small trees, often known as Tea Trees or Paperbarks.
  • Native to Australia and New Zealand, they are admired for their fragrant foliage, delicate white or pink blossoms, and flaky paper-like bark. 

SOIL REQUIREMENT

  •  Prefer moist, acidic, or neutral, well-draining soil, but are adaptable to a wide range of soil types.  A well-draining potting mix is recommended.

FEEDING/FERTILIZER REQUIREMENT

  • Light feeding is sufficient. Use a balanced fertilizer (like N-P-K 10-10-10) during the growing season to support growth.

LIGHT REQUIREMENT

  • Full sun is ideal (6 to 8 hours) to ensure dense growth and abundant flowers. Melaleuca can tolerate partial shade, but flowering may be reduced.

WATER REQUIREMENT

  • Keep the soil consistently moist for young plants, especially in containers.
  • Established plants can tolerate periods of dry soil, though some species prefer wet conditions.
