GENERAL INFORMATION
- Melaleuca is an evergreen shrubs or small trees, often known as Tea Trees or Paperbarks.
- Native to Australia and New Zealand, they are admired for their fragrant foliage, delicate white or pink blossoms, and flaky paper-like bark.
SOIL REQUIREMENT
- Prefer moist, acidic, or neutral, well-draining soil, but are adaptable to a wide range of soil types. A well-draining potting mix is recommended.
FEEDING/FERTILIZER REQUIREMENT
- Light feeding is sufficient. Use a balanced fertilizer (like N-P-K 10-10-10) during the growing season to support growth.
LIGHT REQUIREMENT
- Full sun is ideal (6 to 8 hours) to ensure dense growth and abundant flowers. Melaleuca can tolerate partial shade, but flowering may be reduced.
WATER REQUIREMENT
- Keep the soil consistently moist for young plants, especially in containers.
- Established plants can tolerate periods of dry soil, though some species prefer wet conditions.
