GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Philodendron sp. Colombia is a terrestrial philodendron, meaning it grows along the forest floor, and is native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia. It is known for its large, heart-shaped leaves with a quilted or ribbed texture and a deep venation pattern. The leaves are typically deep green with a subtle silvery sheen. 
  • Philodendron sp. Colombia is considered relatively easy to care for, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced plant owners. 
  • It has a creeping rhizome and can spread, so provide it with enough space to roam. 
  • Its beautiful foliage and unique texture make it a popular choice for interior decoration. 
  • It's known for its low-spreading form and ability to create a "jungle" vibe in indoor spaces. 

SOIL REQUIREMENT

  • Well-draining soil is essential. A mixture of potting mix, perlite, and orchid bark is often recommended. 
  • It needs to be able to that retains moisture, but not hold water.

LIGHT REQUIREMENT

  • Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch the leaves. 

WATER REQUIREMENT

  • When growing philodendron plants, allow the top inch of two of soil to dry out between waterings.  
  • The length of your index finger to the first knuckle is about an inch, so inserting your finger into the soil is a good way to check the moisture level.
