SOIL REQUIREMENT

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The Moon Valley Pilea or Pilea Mollis is native to Central and South America.
  • The leaves are bushy in nature and are typically a bright yellow-green with dark copper veins.
  • The leaves will grow to about two inches in length and, the plant itself will remain relatively small, never reaching more than 12 inches in height, which makes it suitable for windowsills and tabletops.

SOIL REQUIREMENT

  • It prefers well-drained potting soil.
  • Use high-quality organic potting soil. One that's based on peat moss or coir fiber is the best.

FEEDING/FERTILIZER REQUIREMENT

  • For best results, use a general liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength twice during the spring and summer.

LIGHT REQUIREMENT

  • Pilea will do best in a bright, indirect sunny spot in your home.
  • Even though this plant is part of the succulent family, do not place your Pilea in direct sunlight since it will scorch the leaves.

WATER REQUIREMENT

  • Allow the soil to dry between waterings, as Pilea does not like soggy soil.
  • Watch the leaves—when they start looking a tad droopy, it’s time to water your plant.
