GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Ruscus is a genus of six species of flowering plants, native to western and southern Europe (north to southern England), Macaronesia, northwest Africa, and southwestern Asia east to the Caucasus.
  • It grows well in shade to dappled sunlight and is extremely tolerant of root competition.
  • Though there are around 20 species of Ruscus, only three are most commonly cultivated. The obvious differences are in the leaves (called cladodes) and the flap over the flower.
  • Ruscus with their long stiff stem, evergreen bright look, and long-lasting vase life, have made them be widely used as flower fillers for any arrangement, from wedding flower arrangements to event flower centerpieces.
  • As an added bonus, this greenery is available year-round and it's long-lasting.
  • With proper care and handling, Italian Ruscus can last up to 8 days.
  • This variety looks beautiful on its own, especially when it's laid out in the center of the table.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Cut stems 45 degrees diagonally with a sharp knife or a pair of scissors.
  • Change water every two days.
  • Remove any fallen leaves on the water surface.
  • Keep leaves out of direct sunlight and avoid placing in a room with high humidity.
  • If flowers start to droop, check if there is too much or too little water.
  • Re-cut the stems if the end is soggy.
